"Blood Money" Review · Sep 1, 09:01 AM by J Diddy

Well folks its finally here, sitting on my desk, the new Mobb Deep released titled “Blood Money” and below is our unbiased review, I hope you will all find it useful.

During the 1990s, Havoc and Prodigy of the rap duo Mobb Deep epitomized, lyrically and sonically, the gritty environment of New York City.

They helped define East Coast hardcore hip-hop with their 1995 seminal CD, The Infamous, their lyrics harsh, their music moody and dark. But the past few years have seen New York slip in prominence; Southern crunk and West Coast funk are now in command.

Mobb Deep’s Blood Money looks to put New York back on the map – with 50 Cent, the muscle-bound rapper with the half-drunk flow, on board to help.

For the most part, the duo stays true to its hardcore rap roots. There are plenty of pounding beats and clever hooks, and Havoc and Prodigy stay grimy – on “Pearly Gates,” Prodigy beefs with God. And look for the bonus cuts, “Have a Party” and “Outta Control,” which are party starters.

But when 50 Cent’s presence is felt too much, his focus on chart-climbing dilutes underground appeal.
